BJC Animal Control and Cross My Heart Rescue Announces Pupp-a-ween Event at Pickwick Plaza
BIRMINGHAM, AL – Birmingham-Jefferson County (BJC) Animal Control Services and Cross My Heart Dog Rescue invite all area dogs to enjoy an afternoon of trick or treating at Pupp-a-ween on Sunday, Oct. 25 at the Pickwick Plaza in Five Points South from 3 to 5 p.m.
Pupp-a-ween is a chance for the DOGS to trick or treat and don their favorite Halloween attire. Trick or treat bags and treats will be provided for all dogs, but costumes are encouraged. Animal rescue groups and BJC Animal Control will have adoptable dogs in costume at the event as well.
“Pupp-a-ween is a great event for the whole family to enjoy with their pets, and it also provides an opportunity for local rescue groups to help find more homes for these deserving animals,” says Phil Doster, the adoption coordinator at BJC Animal Control.
This event is a collaborative effort between BJC Animal Control and Cross My Heart Dog Rescue to prevent the overcrowding of animal shelters in Birmingham. Since Oct. 1, 1997, BJC Animal Control has operated the Jefferson County impoundment facility under contract with the Jefferson County Commission and the City of Birmingham. BJC’s mission is to actively preserve, protect and enhance the health, safety and comfort of the citizens of Jefferson County by taking violent, injured or at-large animals off the streets to keep the community free from potentially threatening nuisances.
Cross My Heart’s mission is to prevent the overcrowding of animal shelters in the greater Birmingham area of Alabama, where innocent dogs are routinely put to rest to make room for incoming strays. It is each volunteer’s mission to rescue, provide sanctuary for and ultimately re-home these abandoned, abused and neglected dogs.
